“RYA Powerboat Level 1”
RYA Powerboat Level 1 - This one day course is the introductory level to powerboating, which aims to provide a practical solution to boat handling and safety in powerboats. The perfect solution for anyone not too confident in their own abilities, or youngsters who may be too young (under 12) to undertake the level 2. This course allows anyone to experience the joys of boating as well as attaining a Royal Yachting Association Certification.
Key course details:
● Previous Knowledge: None needed.
● Duration: 1 Day
● Time: From 10am till 5pm
● Group Size: 3 People
● Minimum Age: 8 Years, candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate.
● Ability after course: Able to drive a powerboat under supervision.
● Price: £100 pp
The syllabus is split between classroom theory and water-based practical tuition, covering the following topics:
● Launch and recovery (8-11 year olds observe).
● Preparation of boat and crew, boat handling, picking up and securing to a mooring buoy, leaving and coming alongside, being towed.
● Personal and boat preparation.
● Launching and returning to shore (8 to 11 year olds observe).
● Boat handling and basic boat controls.
● Picking up and securing to a mooring buoy.
● Leaving and coming alongside.
● Being towed.
● Awareness of other water users.
Course prices include certification, all safety equipment, boats and fuel for the duration of the course. Depending on the weather ‘foul weather gear’ maybe provided. The course may also be run from your location using your own boat (subject to type and suitability) contact us for prices.
