“RYA Powerboat Level 2”
RYA Powerboat Level 2 is a two day course that provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat safely and responsibly. The course focuses on such topics as low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, driving at planning speed and collision regulations.
Key course details:
● Previous Knowledge: None needed, May be preceded by Level 1 Start Powerboating.
● Duration: 2 Days
● Time: From 10am till 5pm
● Group Size: 3 People
● Minimum Age: 12 Years, candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate.
● Ability after course: Self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of craft.
● Price: £ 250 pp
The syllabus is split between classroom theory and water-based practical tuition, covering the following topics:
● Launch & Recovery
● Boat Handling
● Handling a boat at planing speed.
● Leaving and coming alongside.
● Man Overboard ● Emergency procedures
● Securing to a buoy ● Anchoring
● Collision regulations
● Navigation to include charts, tides and buoyage.
● Undertaking a passage
Course prices include certification, the RYA Powerboating handbook, ICC application form, all safety equipment, boats and fuel for the duration of the course. Depending on the weather ‘foul weather gear’ maybe provided. The course may also be run from your location using your own boat (subject to type and suitability) contact us for prices.
